Salutatorian Address at the Plant Maintenance, Inspection and Engineering Society’s (PMIES) Expo and Conference
PinnacleART Vice President of Reliability Solutions, Walt Sanford is presenting the Salutatorian address at the PMIES Expo and Conference. The presentation titled, “RCM Driven Asset Management for a Major Capital Project,” will review the methodology used and the results achieved for using RCM to drive the comprehensive Risk Management strategy for a major capital project. The purpose of PMIES is to provide a forum to share knowledge, create a networking relationship among interested parties, and provide technical programs that are meaningful and that emphasize the hands on aspect versus the theoretical side of Mechanical Engineering.
With more than 25 years of experience in reliability, and operations & maintenance excellence, Walter T. Sanford (Walt) is the Vice President of Reliability Solutions for Pinnacle Advanced Reliability Technologies (PinnacleART). He is responsible for development, oversight and growth of all reliability and asset management products and services across all industry sectors.
During his extensive tenure in reliability, Walt has served in a variety of roles, including as an operations, maintenance and integrity strategy and process advisor for several global companies. As an advisor, he supported these organizations in asset management strategy development, gap analysis, improvement process development and implementation, and asset performance management. Walt is considered a global expert in the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). Having been an RCM practitioner since 1990, Walt has been a pioneer in the adaptation of RCM to various industries and environments, and the evolution and continuous improvement of RCM and other risk management processes.
Walt has also specified and developed several successful reliability and asset management software tools, and has authored and presented several papers and tutorials for American Nuclear Society (ANS), NPRA/AFPM, Texas A&M Turbomachinery Advisory Board, ASME, SMRP, API and EPRI.
Prior to his career in reliability consulting services, Walt served as a surface warfare and nuclear engineering officer for the United States Navy. Walt received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (cum laude), with a minor in mathematics from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, and received extensive post-graduate engineering training from the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power School and Prototype.
