International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association (IPEIA)

March 7, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - March 9, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Corrosion Monitoring Location (CML) selection can be a daunting task that requires a systematic and thought-out approach to ensure effective inspections. Inspectors or engineers may adopt a “shotgun” approach where multiple locations are used in hopes of capturing degradation without consideration for the expected damage mechanism. This leads to either excessive CMLs where damage is not likely to occur, or worse, not enough coverage where it is likely to occur.

CML Optimization combines inspection history, corrosion expertise, and a statistical analysis to provide inspectors with the information needed to confidently identify where a damage mechanism is likely to manifest itself, and defines the optimal extent, location, and technique to find the damage. CML Optimization refocuses inspection resources to find degradation where it is likely to occur and removes unnecessary CMLs that do not add value.

PinnacleART’s Engineering Manager, Norman Brown, is presenting at the International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association (IPEIA) Conference March 7, 2018 in Banff, Alberta. The presentation titled, “CML Optimization: Effective and Efficient Coverage & Placement,” will overview how CML Optimization ensures plant resources are best used to perform effective inspections.

If you will be in the area and would like to further discuss CML Optimization, click here to schedule a meeting with Norman.

The IPEIA Conference began over 20 ago years and has become an internationally recognized annual conference to gather Pressure Equipment Integrity industry groups together to further improve best practices and provide education for those committed to this specialty in the energy sector.
