Nondestructive Testing - Inspection Services

Nondestructive testing (NDT) provides a reliable way of monitoring asset integrity. PinnacleART’s NDT team can help a facility identify the current state of its assets, in regards to present associated asset degradation. Our in-house team of highly trained, certified and educated inspectors follow rigorous processes and procedures to inspect and report the current degradation state of a given asset.

Facilities typically strive to achieve three main goals: profitability, safety, and compliance.  To meet these goals, a facility needs to maintain the integrity of its assets and systems. Yet, over time, an asset’s integrity decreases, due to the degradation of its components by damage mechanisms, usually involving thinning or cracking modes.

In general, facilities plan an asset’s lifespan based on predicted corrosion rates; however, upsets and/or inferior product quality, as well as the presence of other non-thinning damage mechanisms, can alter these initial lifespan plans. Undetected degradation over time can cause an asset to fail before its projected lifespan, leading to a costly repair or replacement. Such unexpected failures can lead to critical safety hazards, and can also cause negative impacts on the profitability of the plant due to downtime. Nondestructive testing helps to overcome these challenges by providing reliable methods of identifying the rate of damage / degradation actually happening over time.

PinnacleART’s NDT program is supported by corrosion specialists to help ensure the adequate inspection technique is being utilized to monitor / inspect the anticipated damage mechanism. PinnacleART’s standard NDT services include the following:

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Visual Testing (VT)

In addition to standard NDT services, PinnacleART also provides Advanced NDT support.
