PASADENA, TEXAS – February 21, 2020

Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day was celebrated on February 20, 2020. This day is part of a worldwide campaign to engage girls to explore engineering. The objective is to encourage girls to consider a route into engineering and to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers. On this day, thousands of people around the world make a united effort to facilitate engineering activities and educate girls about how engineers impact the world.

Although women’s representation in the workforce in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, specifically engineering, has significantly improved, it is still not very high and women feel the need to prove themselves. According to the Society of Women Engineers’ (SWE) research update, “Women in Engineering by the Numbers (Nov. 2019),” in the United States, only 13% of engineers in the workforce are women and only 19.9% of bachelor degrees are awarded to women in engineering and computer science.

We wanted to do our part to spread awareness about the benefits of being a woman in engineering. Some of the PinnacleART employees from different branches of engineering shared why they chose to become engineers in the video below.

Thank you to all the PinnacleART employees who shared their stories and the countless more that help us make the world reliable!
