Sudhakar Presenting - MS&TPinnacleART Senior Corrosion Specialist Sudhakar Mahajanam presented his co-authored paper, Dynamic Strain Aging in Oil and Gas Production, at the Materials Science & Technology 2017 (MS&T17) Conference held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania October 8-12. The paper was co-authored with Michael Joosten, Vice-President Engineering/Chief Metallurgist at Corrosion Integrity Solutions.

In this work, the authors review dynamic strain aging (DSA) to provide a comprehensive background and understanding of this failure mode, with a specific focus on the effect of DSA on oil and gas production materials subjected to high temperatures (for example: fire flood operations, steam assisted gravity drainage [SAGD] wells, or unintentional subsurface coal seam fires).

MS&T17 is the most comprehensive forum for materials science and engineering technologies. Attendees learn from materials specialists, explore diverse materials applications, and experience the synergy of the materials community! MS&T crosses the boundaries of most materials events by bringing together a broad range of technical sessions and expertise through the strengths of six major materials organizations: The American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), ASM International, Metallurgy and Materials Society of CIM (MetSoc), NACE International, and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). The exposition showcases a wide variety of equipment and services to the automotive, aerospace, instrumentation, medical, oilfield, and energy industries.
