This past summer, PinnacleART invited 14 students from a variety of the country’s top universities to participate in PinnacleART’s 2019 summer internship program. This year’s intern class, which included three returning interns, supported project teams located at PinnacleART’s corporate headquarters in Pasadena, Texas and Chicago office.

PinnacleART’s summer internship program provides undergraduate and graduate students interested in asset integrity and reliability engineering firsthand experience of the daily activities of supporting clients from the oil & gas, wastewater, and chemical industries. The majority of the interns worked with Asset Integrity Analysts (AIA) to support project teams with tasks including data mining, writing corrosion control documents (CCD), and developing an internal training program for future PinnacleART new hires. Additionally, a few of the interns supported PinnacleART’s engineering department, which included working with the Asset Performance Management (APM) team and PinnacleART’s corrosion engineers.

The internship program also included career development and networking activities for the interns. Each intern was matched with a mentor who met with them on a weekly basis and provided career development guidance. In addition to their mentors, the interns had multiple opportunities to network with other PinnacleART employees and company leadership at various lunch and learns and company events, including an Astros baseball game at the beginning of the summer. The interns also planned and executed a carnival-themed fellowship meeting, a monthly, company-wide gathering for employees and raised over $450 for a local charity.

At the conclusion of the program, the interns were equipped with the knowledge and skills that they will need to be successful as they begin their careers.
